Wednesday 5th April 2017, 13:00 – 16:30
Sheffield Hallam University
(Part of Social Justice Week 2017)
For details, and to register, please see HERE.
Here is an overview of the event:
The research showcased here, produced by academics at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) and the University of Sheffield (UoS) aims to look differently at changing issues in UK policing today.
Our first panel of speakers at this event, featuring Dr. Craig Paterson (SHU), Dr. Jake Phillips (SHU) and several professional practitioners, will address the challenge of policing in the context of vulnerable groups in society.
The second panel, comprised of Jamie Grace (SHU), Dr. Matthew Bacon (UoS) and Dick Severns (SHU), will focus on policing policy research in the fields of surveillance, drugs and firearms.
Our third and final panel will feature Dr. Lindsey Rice (UoS) discussing the role of civilian investigators in contemporary UK policing, while Dr. Adam White (UoS) will be discussing the privatisation of the policing of public spaces.
Please feel free to promote this to your students too, if any of them might want to visit us here at SHU for this event.
